M. Bradley Smith

Bradley Smith is currently the Lead Independent Board Member at TPG Real Estate Finance Trust, Inc., where he also serves as Chair of the Governance and Nominating Committee and is a member of the Audit and the Compensation Committees. He has been on the Board since the company's IPO in 2017. The company is externally managed by TPG Global, a leading alternative investment management firm with over $130 billion in AUM. The company is a balance sheet lender that originates floating rate first mortgage loans with approximately $5 billion in assets.
From 2002 until 2015, Bradley was Head of Real Estate, Gaming and Lodging Equity Capital Markets at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He was the lead advisor in raising more than $100 billion in equity through over 300 transactions and helped to build the dominant equity capital raising franchise on Wall Street. Mr. Smith played a pivotal role in the re-capitalization of the public real estate and lodging sectors in the aftermath of 2008-2009 financial crisis.
Prior to that, Mr. Smith worked at Lehman Brothers from 1989 to 2000. His roles spanned Equity Capital Markets and Investment Banking in New York and London and ultimately, he became Co-Head of U.S. Equity Syndicate. Mr. Smith graduated magna cum laude from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in finance.
